Summer Activities

As summer reaches its peak, now is the perfect time to adventure the great outdoors. Especially with your beloved pet! Whether it be a dog, cat or anything in between, there are plenty of pet-friendly activities for you and your companion to enjoy.

  1. Beach Days: Many beaches are pet inclusive and may have a designated area where pets are allowed! This is a great way to allow your pet to exercise by playing in the water, or chasing a frisbee in the sand. Next time you go to the beach, check your beach for the rules and regulations regarding pets on the beach. Remember to bring a collapsible bowl for fresh water/food and some toys for some fun!

  1. Hiking Trails/Paths: Hiking with your pet is also a great form of exercise for both you and your pet. Hiking is not only good for exercise but also for allowing your pet to explore new scents and sights that they may not experience at home. Be sure to check the hiking trails conditions regarding pets, as well as, making sure your pet is capable of handling the terrain and length of trail well.

  1. Dog Parks: Dog parks are the best place for your dog to burn off some energy while also socializing with other dogs. With fences surrounding the area, your dog can engage in off-leash play while you converse with other pet owners.

  1. Picnic in the Park: Many parks allow for leashed pets and offer perfect spots to picnic. Be sure to pack a pet-friendly lunch, as well as your own, and a blanket, so you can enjoy the sun as your pet relaxes beside you. Don’t forget to bring plenty of toys and/or treats to keep your pet occupied.

  1. Kayaking/Paddleboarding: If you and your pet enjoy the water, consider taking them to kayak/paddleboard. What better way to bond with your pet than exploring new lakes, rivers, or other waters together?

  1. Outdoor Events: Check out your local outdoor events. Some may allow for pets to attend as well! These could include festivals, markets, or fairs. At these events, vendors may offer pet-friendly treats and toys, contests, and other pet-related activities.

There are endless opportunities for you and your pet to take advantage of during the summertime. Whether that be exploring a new trail, or relaxing in the park, pet-friendly venues and activities await you at every corner.
